BAHAD-1BAHAD 1: The Reality of the IDF Officers' CourseFor the first time ever, the Israeli army has allowed camera crews to follow one of its most prestigious establishments: Bahad 1, the IDF officers' school. The upcoming documentary film ( taken from the 5-part series produced for Channel 2 Reshet Israel) follows the cadets who train to become officers in the Israeli Army. The series follows the trails and tribulations of young cadets as they train to become officers in one of the best and most sophisticated militaries in the world. The film, which is unprecedented in its access, was shot in HD, making it the first series to be produced in this format in Israel and focuses on ten IDF soilders from very different backgrounds, ethnicities and regions of Israel who chose to extend their army service and become officers in the Israeli Army. As they went through 'Bahad 1' , or what is known as Israel's West Point, our cameras followed their journey from boys to men, soldiers to officers and coursemates to great friends. We got to know the boys, thier motivations, fears and personal histories as they allowed our cameras into their homes and into their hearts. Through their stories, viewers will finally be able to put a face to the often misunderstood Israeli soldier and in turn gain an inside look into Israeli society and its unique complexities.
